A statewide Hour of Code will take place Dec. 5-9 as part of a nationwide, annual event hosted by Code.org. Held in conjunction with Computer Science Education Week, the event is part of a broader effort to give students of all ages opportunities to learn about coding and computer science as foundational 21st century skills.

Gov. Doug Burgum today congratulated Horizon Middle School for taking first place in the ND Cyber Madness Middle School Tournament. Six finalists from the east competed from Grand Forks and five finalists from the west competed from Minot, with all 11 teams vying for the statewide crown on Nov. 18.

Team members from the North Dakota Information Technology (NDIT) Customer Success Office and partners at our state agencies have a shared goal – empower our Team ND members to better support the citizen. In the case of Health and Human Services Policy and System Support (PaSS) Team, they provide IT support to staff who get critical services to our most vulnerable residents. North Dakota’s safety net services such as TANF, SNAP, and Medicaid improve the lives of people, families, and children, by providing them with support in what may be their most dire time of need.

Gov. Doug Burgum today congratulated the middle school teams signed up to participate in the ND Middle School Cyber Madness tournament. 36 teams from 16 middle schools across North Dakota have registered for the first-ever ND Middle School cybersecurity tournament, to take place on Friday, Oct. 28.  This first round will occur virtually where all teams will compete to be in the final 10. The 10 teams moving forward will compete in-person at the final's competition on Nov. 18.  Five finalists from the east will compete from Grand Forks and five finalists from the west will compete from Minot, with all 10 teams vying for the statewide crown.

Bismarck, N.D. (OCT. 24, 2022) -The State of North Dakota Chief Information Officer Shawn Riley today announced the upcoming second annual North Dakota Cyber Madness High School tournament. This event is a three-round competition designed for, and open to, all North Dakota High School students (this includes public, private, tribal, and home school students who reside in North Dakota). All high schools are encouraged to form teams of up to five students and a coach. The coach can register the team for the event at: North Dakota Schools can register for the competition at: EduTech | High School Cyber Madness (nodak.edu)

Students will work to solve a variety of cybersecurity challenges. The competition will be held Feb. 16 – 18, 2023. Bismarck State College (BSC) will host the event at the National Energy Center of Excellence (NECE) in Bismarck, N.D.
