What is it :
BA Services for existing IT systems fall under the category of Maintenance and Operations. These services include activity guided by 3 IIBA Knowledge Areas, and include a variety of Best Practice tools and techniques as needed for each system.
What do you get with the service:
- Elicit & Collaborate- Elicit & collaboration activities typically consist mostly of facilitation and capturing business requirements for the project. The nature of the project dictates the level of detail required. The BA will facilitate a series of requirements gathering engagements with stakeholders and verify that the captured requirements accurately reflect the business problem.
- Analysis & Monitor- Business Analysis planning and monitoring is something that is done for each engagement, however for larger efforts there are typically formal deliverables around the plan and execution of BA activities itself. For example, toward the beginning of the engagement, stakeholders are identified and typically a requirements gathering schedule is created to get a since for long, and who needs to be engaged. In some cases governance and decision making rules for the project also need to be established to ensure forward movement is maintained. The BA monitors that the BA plan is proceeding as it should.
- Lifecycle Management- Requirements life cycle management refers to the fact that during projects, the BA remains engaged to ensure that business requirements traceability is maintained as technical huddle emerge. The BA monitors and helps the team prioritize business requirements as the project unfolds. They facilitate mid project requirements changes and ensure they approved and understood by stakeholders.
How do you request service:
If your agency needs maintenance per your M&O agreement, NDIT’s Self Service Portal may be used to submit a generic request with “Maintenance and Project Support” in the description and any other details you wish to include. If you don’t have an MOU, say this in the Request.
Once approved by your agency, you’ll be contacted by a member of the BA Team to verify and begin the work.
