North Dakota Information Technology (NDIT) placed second in the International Cyber League (ICL) Americas Cyber Cup, a hyper-realistic cybersecurity competition. The ICL tested the skills of cyber defense teams from around the world by immersing them in a cyber range, which required them to defend against real-world simulated cyberattacks.

Students will explore cybersecurity concepts, attack vectors, coding principles, and more through a series of cybersecurity challenges. These challenges will include, but are not limited to, Capture the Flag (CTF), Jeopardy style, and other educational toolsets.

North Dakota Information Technology congratulates Red River High School on taking first place in the 2023 North Dakota Cyber Madness High School Tournament. The two-day event held at Bismarck State College welcomed twenty teams representing twelve high schools located across the state.

A statewide Hour of Code will take place Dec. 5-9 as part of a nationwide, annual event hosted by Code.org. Held in conjunction with Computer Science Education Week, the event is part of a broader effort to give students of all ages opportunities to learn about coding and computer science as foundational 21st century skills.  

Gov. Doug Burgum today congratulated Horizon Middle School for taking first place in the ND Cyber Madness Middle School Tournament. Six finalists from the east competed from Grand Forks and five finalists from the west competed from Minot, with all 11 teams vying for the statewide crown on Nov. 18.  

Gov. Doug Burgum today congratulated the middle school teams signed up to participate in the ND Middle School Cyber Madness tournament. 36 teams from 16 middle schools across North Dakota have registered for the first-ever ND Middle School cybersecurity tournament, to take place on Friday, Oct. 28.  This first round will occur virtually where all teams will compete to be in the final 10. The 10 teams moving forward will compete in-person at the final's competition on Nov. 18.  Five finalists from the east will compete from Grand Forks and five finalists from the west will compete from Minot, with all 10 teams vying for the statewide crown.   

Bismarck, N.D. (OCT. 24, 2022) -The State of North Dakota Chief Information Officer Shawn Riley today announced the upcoming second annual North Dakota Cyber Madness High School tournament. This event is a three-round competition designed for, and open to, all North Dakota High School students (this includes public, private, tribal, and home school students who reside in North Dakota). All high schools are encouraged to form teams of up to five students and a coach. Students will work to solve a variety of cybersecurity challenges. The competition will be held Feb. 16 – 18, 2023. Bismarck State College (BSC) will host the event at the National Energy Center of Excellence (NECE) in Bismarck, N.D.

The State of North Dakota Chief Information Officer Shawn Riley today announced the 5th annual CyberCon 2022 cybersecurity and infrastructure regional conference to be held at Bismarck State College (BSC) Oct. 4-5.

North Dakota Chief Information Officer Shawn Riley and NDIRF CEO Brennan Quintus today announced a rate reduction for NDIRF members that implement the following cybersecurity services and practices: cyber maturity assessment, antimalware software, and vulnerability scanning services. The services are provided by the North Dakota Information Technology (NDIT) department at no cost to North Dakota cities, counties, and school districts. 

Each NDIRF member may receive up to a four percent (4%) liability rate reduction by implementing the cyber tools.
